Myra reflects at her 1month Shieldversary
I joined Shieldpay as an enthusiastic DevOps Engineer ready to learn everything and I was not disappointed. The team encouraged and helped me to align my goals and helped me find opportunities to start working on those goals. Within the first few weeks of joining, I felt like I belonged in Shieldpay and all credit for that goes to the team.
Now even after working for months in the company every day is different and challenging in its own way. The one constant is our Daily Stand-up. The days revolve around various Jira tickets depending on the issues at hand and finding out how to fix them and discovering new tools and techniques that can be implemented.
I’d say a dream working environment for a DevOps engineer is when you recommend improvements and changes that can be made, and the team accepts them with an open heart. I can thankfully say that here, everyone hears the ideas with an open mind and, after discussions on the pros and cons, is open to the implementation.
Then there is the DevOps community practice that happens every alternate Monday. This helps everyone take part in learning and introducing new DevOps practices to the team.
And lastly, the highlight of the week is that every Friday everyone is encouraged to take out time to do a course or prepare for a new certification. This is an amazing opportunity for every developer and shows how Shieldpay is invested in my personal development.
