The opportunity
Working closely with the Director of Finance and CCO you will be responsible for supporting the firm in complying with the new safeguarding regulatory framework being developed by the FCA for the payments sector, which will transition us to the CASS framework during 2025/26. You will play a key role in the design and implementation of this new framework, working collaboratively with Product, Operations, Tech, Finance and Compliance teams. Once implemented, you will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing effectiveness of the framework. You will be instrumental in bringing subject matter expertise to Shieldpay around CASS regulations and ensure the businesses processes adhere to the new Safeguarding regulations developed by the FCA.
What you’ll be doing
- Oversee and manage all of Shieldpay’s Client Money and Reconciliation procedures.
- Provide expertise to senior colleagues responsible for client asset oversight.
- Oversee and implement client money processes, including maintaining the CASS Resolution Pack and FCA CASS Returns.
- Maintain CASS-related documents, including the CASS Resolution Pack, Procedures and Control Matrix etc.
- Work with Compliance to revise the firm’s Safeguarding Policy, Procedures and Controls (PPCs) so they align with the new CASS framework.
- Design and conduct quality assurance testing in line with the new CASS/Safeguarding and reconciliation processes in accordance with current and future FCA regulations.
- Manage the annual CASS audit, including responding to auditor findings.
- Review the operations processes related to Safeguarding and Reconciliation to identify areas for enhancement. When enhancements are identified you will lead the enhancements through discovery and into delivery.
- Work with Technology and Compliance teams to lead on regular client money reporting to the FCA .
- Enhance daily and monthly oversight reporting on CASS/Safeguarding.
What we're looking for in you
- Proven experience working with CASS regulations in a regulated financial services firm.
- Management and financial reporting experience.
- Able to communicate and present complex topics in a simple and easy to understand format to a number of varying stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of data analysis, and process improvement techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- A track record of managing and influencing cross-functional teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions.
